Registration for the Re-employment Allowance Pilot Scheme

Points to note:

  1. Participants must be Hong Kong residents aged 40 or above (those who are Hong Kong non-permanent residents should hold a valid Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Document of Identity for Visa Purposes or passport).
  2. Participants must be lawfully employable in Hong Kong1, and not be the specified classes of persons2.
  3. Participants must not be engaged in any paid work (including employment, self-employment and running a business) in Hong Kong for a period of 3 consecutive months or more immediately before joining the Scheme.
  4. Participants should provide a valid telephone number and an email address for contact purpose and receiving information of the Scheme.
  5. Participants should register once only. After successful registration, participants will receive a confirmation email with a registration reference number assigned. Participants are advised to jot down the reference number for future reference or enquiry.
  6. Eligible persons should register for the Scheme as soon as possible. Under special circumstances, post-registration may be allowed within 1 month after commencement of the relevant job. The commencement date of the relevant job must fall on or after 15 July 2024 and within the implementation period of the Scheme. Participants must remain employed in the relevant job when post-registering for the Scheme. Participants post-registering for the Scheme must not be engaged in any paid work in Hong Kong (including employment, self-employment and running a business) for 3 consecutive months or more immediately before commencement of the relevant job.

For the avoidance of doubt, persons and their dependants admitted to Hong Kong on employment and student conditions are not eligible to join the Scheme.

Such schemes include, but are not limited to, the Top Talent Pass Scheme, the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates, the General Employment Policy (GEP), the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP), the GEP and ASMTP (Technical Professionals Stream), the Technology Talent Admission Scheme, the Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents, the Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme, the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme and the New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme.


Personal Information Collection Statement

Purpose of Collection

The personal data you provided to the Labour Department and its commissioned service organisations will be used for matters related to processing your application under the Re-employment Allowance Pilot Scheme and its related purposes. The provision of personal data is voluntary. If you do not provide sufficient information, the Labour Department and its commissioned service organisations may not be able to process your application.

Classes of Transferees

The Labour Department may transfer your personal data to other relevant government bureaux/departments/organisations in Hong Kong (including service organisations/providers commissioned by the Labour Department) for scrutinising participants' eligibilities and information provided by the participants, provision of relevant support services, scheme administration and publicity, conduct of survey and study, and handling other related matters.

Access to Personal Data / Enquiry

You have the right of access and correction in respect of your personal data provided in Sections 18 and 22 and Principle 6 of Schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
