Registration in Selective Placement Division
1.  What is the work of the Selective Placement Division?
The Selective Placement Division provides free employment service to employers and disabled job-seekers. We are also charged with the mission of cultivating a positive attitude within our community towards people with disabilities and enhancing their employment opportunities through visits to major employers in various sectors, staging exhibitions and seminars, producing TV and radio programmes, videos, booklets and leaflets, etc.

2.  Who are the target clients of the Selective Placement Division?
Our target clients are employers looking for disabled candidates and job-seekers with disabilities, including those with visual or hearing impairment, physical or intellectual disability, chronic illness, ex-mentally ill as well as people with specific learning difficulties and attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder.

3.  If I do not have any disability, can I register at the Selective Placement Division?
Sorry, if you do not have any disability, you cannot register with us. Please kindly approach our Employment Services Division for employment assistance.

4.  Why should I register with the Selective Placement Division?
The Selective Placement Division will provide you with personal placement service. Each disabled job-seeker will be followed up by a placement officer. Through vocational counseling and assessment, our placement officers will keep you abreast of the latest job market situation. Upon knowing your expectations and abilities, our placement officers will provide you with job matching and referral service. Post-placement follow up service not less than three months is also available. As a registrant, you can also make use of the web services and contact your placement officers for job referrals.

5.  What are the registration procedures?
You may choose one of the following means to register with us:
(a) Click on "Online Registration" and an application form will appear. Simply fill in the form and click on "Submit". Upon receiving your request, we will invite you to attend an interview with our placement officer as soon as possible.
(b) Alternatively, you can download the application form and return it to us by mail/fax. Upon receiving your request, we will invite you to attend an interview with our placement officer as soon as possible.
(c) Contact our regional office and make appointment with our placement officer.

6.  Do I need to provide any proof (e.g. medical referral, psychological report, etc) to the Selective Placement Division if I wish to register?
You should bring along your HKID card (or other identity documents), two passport size photos and where available, documentary proof of employment and academic achievements for first interview with placement officer. You should also bring along any recent medical referral or psychological report that you may possess as a reference of your suitability for open employment. To safeguard you interest, we may, with your consent, ask for updated medical referrals directly from hospitals or clinics before proceeding with your registration.

7.  Do I need to pay any registration fee?
All services provided by the Selective Placement Division are free of charge.

8.  Do I need to become a "member" of your website or your division to utilize all the web functions?
To enable disabled job seekers utilize our services more conveniently, we do not adopt "membership" system in our website. Disabled job seekers can access the majority of the web functions, like Build Resume, Search Jobs, Location Search, etc. Those who are registered with the Selective Placement Division can submit online requests for job referrals to us after locating suitable jobs in our website. If you have not yet registered with us and you are in search of a job, please do not hesitate to come and meet us. For information on registration procedures, please refer to Q.5.

9.  I am already a registrant of your division. Do I need to register again to use the services provided by your website?
Registration at the Selective Placement Division lasts for a year. If your registration has not yet expired, there is no need for renewal and you can instantly use the services in our website. If your registration has already expired, please contact us to renew your registration as soon as possible.

10.  My registration with your division has already expired. How can I renew my registration?
Go to Job Seeker Zone and click on "Renew Registration" and an application form will appear. Simply fill in the form and click on "Submit". Alternatively, you can contact your placement officers for renewal of registration.

11.  If I am not a Hong Kong resident, can I use the service of this website?
While this website is open for public browsing, we offer our service only to disabled job seekers who are legally employable in Hong Kong. People who do not have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong have to apply for visa or entry permit before they can come to Hong Kong for employment. For information about visa application for employment in Hong Kong, please visit the website of the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region: http://www.immd.gov.hk.

12.  The jobs posted in your website are provided by whom?
All vacancies posted in our website are provided by employers. Some of them are open to disabled job seekers only. Please see Q1 and Q5 on the scope of our work and the registration procedures.

13.  How can I search for jobs?
You have the following options:
Detailed Search - specify one or more searching criteria to optimize your search.
Keyword Search - enter a keyword and search for jobs related to the keyword.
Job Order Search - type the exact job order number to retrieve the job details.

14.  What is "Keyword Search"?
"Keyword Search" is performed according to words or phrases entered into a search field. As the choice of keywords is essential for an effective search, you are suggested to use keywords that are likely to appear in job advertisements such as job titles, duties, skills, responsibilities and so on.

15.  I have typed in a specific job order number for job search, but no details are retrieved. Why?
Make sure you have typed in the correct job order number. If no job is retrieved, the job may have been filled up or cancelled by the employer since you last retrieved it in the website. Try Detailed Search or Keyword Search to explore other jobs.

16.  If search result is nil, what should I do?
You may go back to the searching criteria page and broaden your criteria. You may also start with a keyword search to obtain a broader result set, and then refine your searching criteria step by step.

17.  Can I organize my job search results?
Yes. You can sort your search results based on the required education level, salary offered, years of experience required and date of job posted. You can specify the sorting criteria before or after each search.

18.  I have found a suitable job in the website but I want to search for some more. What can I do?
You can click on "Clip This Job" to save the job in your "Clip Board" temporarily. You can also print out the job information for future reference before you leave the website.

19.  How can I inform you about the jobs that I want to apply?
If you are a registrant of the Selective Placement Division, you can contact your placement officers for job referral service. Or you can save the job(s) that you want to apply in "Clip Board" and then click on "Apply Job(s)". Your request will be sent to our computer system accordingly and your placement officer will contact you as soon as possible. If you have not yet registered with us, please contact us for registration interview as soon as possible.

20.  How long do my favourite jobs stay in the "Clip Board"?
Your favourite jobs in the "Clip Board" will only be saved temporarily in the server. Therefore, you are suggested to submit your requests for job referrals to us once you have completed the job search to avoid data loss.

21.  If job orders contain employers' contact means, can I contact employers direct?
Yes. You are free to contact the employers with contact means shown for direct enquiry and interview arrangement. However, in case of doubt in the course of job application, you should always consult your family members, friends or your placement officer for advice and assistance.

22.  If job orders do not contain employers' contact means, what should I do?
Applications for such jobs should be made through your placement officers. You can save the jobs in the "Clip Board". After your have finalized your choices, click on "Apply Job(s)". Our placement officers will contact the employers for you. Alternatively, you can note down the job order numbers and inform your placement officers by phone/fax.

23.  If I found out that the open job orders were filled, should I inform you?
We actively follow up with employers on the vacancy status and make every endeavor to maintain the vacancy information up-to-date. However, due to a number of reasons, some employers cannot inform us of changes in vacancy information immediately. As such, the status of some vacancies may not be kept updated. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you under this circumstance. Please inform us of any changes in the job status and we undertake to update our record as fast as practicable.

24.  If I secured employment from the open job orders at your website, should I inform you?
To help us maintain the job order information up to date, please click on "Report Found Work" of the Interactive Employment Service and input the details of the job you have found.

25.  What can I do with "Build Resume"?
You can compile your own resume and save it in HTML format in your local drive or floppy disk for future use and reference.

26.  How can I update my registration record through the website?
Click on "Update Profile" button and fill in there your desired amendment or modification. After you have finished, click on "Submit". Any changes will be effected as soon as possible after our verification.

27.  Will job vacancies in your website be updated frequently?
All job vacancies are updated as soon as possible on working days.

28.  Is my personal data encrypted via the Internet?
We employ the SSL encryption method to protect your personal details over the Internet. We respect personal data privacy and only authorized staff can have access to you personal data.
